Favorites fall, China takes gold

Zhong Man celebrates after his win.
The start of the Men's Individual Sabre event at the Fencing Hall threw some early surprises, with big names Zsolt Nemcsik of Hungary and Russian Stanislav Pozdnyakov failing to reach the quarterfinals.
In the first shock of the day, Nemcsik, the Athens 2004 silver medalist and runner-up at the 2006 World Championships, was upset 15-13 in the round of 32 by Zhou Hanming of China.
